RUF NATION PARTNERS WITH CELEBRITY THEATRE TO DELIVER HIGH-CALIBER MMA EVENTS TO PHOENIX MARKET
PHOENIX — Nov. 1, 2021 — The Phoenix Suns have Footprint Arena, the Diamondbacks have Chase field, and now Arizona’s only MMA league, RUF Nation, has a home as well at Phoenix’s historic Celebrity Theater. RUF Nation will join forces with Celebrity Theatre to deliver high-quality, exciting events to combat sports fans. The first in its kind partnership solidifies the long-standing relationship between the two organizations, and will include marketing and promotional efforts to expand the combat sports market in the valley.
It’s another first for RUF Nation who, in October, promoted the first combination Cannabis Expo/MMA Event in the Nation. The event, dubbed “RUF, PUFF & RUMBLE,” included 50 vendors and was attended by more than 2,000 people.
“I pride myself and my company on breaking barriers to deliver the best product to our fans, both in the building, and via live stream,” said RUF Nation CEO Dr. Joel Lopez. “We are always looking at new ways and new partnerships to expand our reach in the valley and beyond.
“We are thrilled to partner with a long-standing pillar of the entertainment industry in Celebrity Theatre,” he continued. “This will enable us to provide better and more visible opportunities to the hard-working men and women fighters in the Arizona MMA community. This is one more milestone in over 20 years of promoting combat sports in Arizona.”

Celebrity Theatre is one of Phoenix’s most intriguing historic landmarks. In 1963, the round building was originally designed as a multi-purpose conference center which could be transformed into a concert venue during the winter months. The theatre opened on January 13th, 1964 with the musical “South Pacific” starring Betsy Palmer. In the years since, the theatre has hosted such stars as George Carlin, Joe Cocker, Carol Channing, Diana Ross, Billy Joel, Def Leppard, Bill Cosby, Duran Duran, Sammy Davis Jr., Smashing Pumpkins, Louis CK, Chris Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, David Bowie, B.B.
