We have a chance to sit down with Brooks Callaghan as he prepares for a title shot on Saturday December 18th at RUF45 – Winter Wars featuring the Road To One.
What are you focusing on, in training, heading into Winter Wars?
We are focusing on perfecting my skills for this fight. Wether he wants to take it to the ground or keep it on the feet I will be ready.
What is the biggest strength you bring into Winter Wars with you?
I believe my biggest strength is my heart and my cardio. If I’m down bad I will find a way to finish the fight. My cardio Is what I truly Believe will outshine others. When you start to slow down is when I’m going to pick up the pace even more.
Why are you the favorite to win the matchup?
I do not know if my the favorite and really do not care if I’m the favorite. Wether I am or not, one thing for sure is that All my friends, family, fans, and supporters know what is about to happy December 18th and you’re gonna hear “And NEW”….. “Brooks KILLA B Callaghan”
What message do you want to send your opponent before Winter Wars?
Tristan, I hope you brought your “A Game” because if not it’s going to be either a short night or a long night and that’s based on however I want the fight to play out. I’m either gonna finish you quick or I’m gonna play with my food for two and half rounds then finish you in the late third.
Which athlete do you want to compete against the most?
I’ve always looked up to guys like Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes, and Daniel Cormier. With them being retired a current athlete I would Want to compete against the most is Robert Whittaker.
How will winning this fight impact or change your life? What does it mean to you?
Winning this fight will bring me back up. It’ll put me back into the win column. I’ll be able to bring my girls a shiny belt back home right before Christmas.
What message would you like to tell your fans, friends, family, team, coaches?
I want To say thank you for sticking by me through this up and down roll coaster I’ve been on while competing in MMA. To my team and Coach Adrian, thank you for always being by my side and willing to work your schedule around my difficult schedule to get work in. Thank you for believing in me when some gave up. To my sponsors (Kim Figueroa @Blythe Remax, Prime leaf Blythe Ca, Leftout Game Farm, and Black Belt Academy) thank you guys for always coming in clutch with sponsorships to help pay for my rooms, travel expenses, Covid tests, shirts, etc. without my sponsors it wouldn’t be able to happen.
What obstacles have you overcome to get to where you are?
The biggest obstacle I’ve overcame is depression. With stuff going on in my personal life outside the cage, to losing two fights in a row, it really put me in a bad spot. At times I was Scared of the thoughts that were going on in my head and the way my mindset was becoming. I often thought about giving up on MMA and life. Realizing my daughters do not deserve to see me like that is how I overcame It.
What would you tell someone going through those things in life right now?
What I would tell someone right now going through depression is to not give up. The thoughts going on in your head are not permanent they’re temporary. Talk to somebody! I felt soft talking about depression to close one’s. I’m not a person who really expresses my emotions but with this I had to. If I got Through it so can you. If you have nobody to talk to you can talk to me, I promise you I’ll understand. Instagram and Twitter: @KillaBCallaghan Facebook: Brooks Callaghan
How has Martial arts and training to compete effected your life?
When I got out of high school I had Nothing to compete in. It was tough adjusting from always competing in sports in life to just working. I got really out of shape and then I started Competing in MMA. It quickly got me back in shape while also teaching me more of how to defend myself If ever need be.
What does FUTURE YOU look like? A day in the life of SUPERSTAR YOU?
Honestly I do not want a big fancy future. Future me looks like a nice home I own With a healthy family. Where I train and Also train my daughters to protect themselves. While I can go to their other sporting events. Being the best in the world and having all my titles showcased around the house to show my kids what hard work can do for somebody and encourage them to follow their dreams.

Phoenix fight fans It’s that time again RUF MMA is bringing you another awesome fight card with RUF 44 Saturday oct 23rd at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona. RUF 44 will bring you more of the usual hard hitting, bone crushing competition in another exciting card on THE ROAD TO ONE. The main card will start off with the newcomer Anthony Pike as he will face off against Austin Wourms, then we will see Michael Quintero take on Eddie Perez. We will have the pleasure of watching Tra’von Butler as he plans to avenge his first meeting against Vernon Lewis. The Main event we will get to see two seasoned Heavyweights with nearly 200 combined fights Aaron Brink & Shannon Ritch take center stage at RUF 44 on the Road to One.
Aaron Brink Vs Shannon Ritch
Shannon Ritch AKA. “The Cannon ” at the age of 51 comes into the bout as one of the oldest active MMA fighters in the world competing in a whopping 151 mixed martial arts matches over his career dating all the way back to his debut match World Shoot Wrestling in June of 1998. Ritch won his debut match, since he has piled up 58 wins over his extensive career fighting in many different promotions along the way such as PRIDE, M-1 Global, he is the former King of the Cage Middleweight Champion and the current Bareknuckle Fighting Championship International Heavyweight Champion. Ritch is coming off a lost via submission (calf slicer) so I’m sure the reigning BKFC International Heavyweight champion is going to bring the fight to Brink in front of his home crowd.
Aaron Brink comes into this bout at the age of 46 although brink made his debut in December of 1998, he has taken a completely different route to get to this Fight against Shannon Ritch at RUF 44. Brink has competed for fighting promotions such as King of the Cage, Rage in the cage, World extreme cage fighting, and even made an appearance in the UFC. Brinks time in the UFC was short lived as he made his debut against ” The Pitbull ” Andrei Arlovski in which he lost via submission (armbar), although this was his only fight in the UFC brink has formed a nice list of World Class opponents over his nearly 21 year career consisting of Joe riggs, former PRIDE stand out Alistair Overeem, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei ” The Pitbull ” Arlovski, and Former UFC Middleweight Champion & current Vice President of ONE Championship Rich Franklin. Brink has a combined total of 57 fights over his career with 25 total wins, despite his last fight coming back in June of 2019 he is coming in sporting a 3-fight win streak.
PREDICTION: Brink has only 1 fight in his 57 career bouts that has gone to a decision and i do not believe this fight will be number 2. I am taking Brink via knockout in the 2nd round.
Tra’von “ Wildman ” Butler Vs Vernon ” Big E ” Lewis
Tra’von ” Wildman ” Butler the 6’2 261.5-pound heavyweight is coming off a win after defeating Corey Mullis via KO just 3:55 into round 1 at RUF 39. Wildman is sporting a 3 -1 record coming into the bout he has 2 knockouts and 1 win by decision after defeating Brad Schott via unanimous decision in his debut match. Butler’s only loss was a majority decision against the man he is facing off against at RUF 44 Vernon Lewis. The #1 ranked wrestler in the state of Missouri in 2020 with a total of 8 career Knockouts is coming to avenge the only loss of his young career, this time around I doubt the Wildman lets the Judges decide the winner.
Vernon aka ” Big E ” Lewis the Waco native is coming off a KO loss in round 1 to undefeated Thomas Peterson which was featured on UFC fight pass. Big E walks into this bout sitting at 8 – 5 in his mixed martial arts career returning to see a familiar face in Wildman Butler I’m sure he wants to show out in front the Phoenix fans at RUF 44. The heavy-handed Lewis wants to make a statement and put the chatter to rest regarding his previous bout with Butler. Prediction: I know Wildman can’t get that decision out of his head, and Lewis is just as upset after his recent TKO loss. I expect both fighters to come out swinging early and often, but in the end, I believe Wildman will come away with the Victory via TKO round 2. CAN WE SAY TRILOGY? Michael ” The Brown Tiger ” Quintero Vs Eduardo ” Bogeyman ” Perez
Michael Quintero is sitting at 7-2 coming off his knockout performance at RUF 41 over Cody east. This former teacher turned fighter is ready to come into RUF 44 and take care of business verse Perez as all but 1 of his wins have come by stoppage.
Eddie Perez 4 -1 professional record also competed at RUF 41 picking up a win versus Darion Abbey. Both Perez and Quintero are early on in their prospective careers however there is a major age difference here Perez is just 27 years of age and has competed in a total of 5 professional bouts, and his opponent Quintero is 45 years of age and has a total of 9 professional bouts under his belt. The Bogeyman is carrying a 2-fight win streak into the cage with him, and I know he plans on keeping that going. Prediction: I’m calling this bout the Cali Showdown, Perez vs Quintero should be an exciting hard hitting fight that will not go the distance. I think Perez will ultimately walk out of RUF 44 with his 3rd straight victory.
Anthony Pike Vs Austin ” The Assassin ” Wourms
Anthony Pike the local will be trying to pick up the win. He is 1 – 1 overall in 2 exhibition bouts, and I’m sure he is to start his professional career with a win.
Austin Wourms is a little more familiar to the RUF crowd, as he competed in RUF 36 and RUF 40. The Assassin is looking for a much better outing this time as both of his previous RUF appearances ended in loss by KO. Prediction: Anthony stepping in for his first time and Wourms looking to finally cash his ticket in, I see a 1st round stoppage going in favor of Austin “ The Assassin ” Wourms.
PHOENIX, AZ. (August 29, 2021) The Celebrity Theater was on fire Sunday evening as the RUF43 card started. This was the net installment in the Road to One Championship. Rich Franklin, the Vice President and the CEO of ONE, was in attendance as he watched top talent battle it out.
Fight 1 Winner – Duy Pham
The first fight of the night started with Patrick Williams vs Duy Pham. This fight went into the 3 round with Duy Pham winning by Submission Via Rear Naked Choke
Fight 2 Winner – Alexander Carrillo
The second fight of the night was Alexander Carrillo vs Mark Courson. This fight was over quickly lasting only 43 seconds as Carrillo landed vicious strikes which led to a referee stoppage.
Fight 3 Winner – Adrian Galindo
This was a back and forth battle going into round three end with a tap out from Musgrove
Fight 4 Winner – Stephan Martinez
Another quick one as Aponte came out swinging, landing a shot on Martinez but Martinez takes it on the chin and quickly takes control on the feet pushing the pace and eventually bringing the action to the ground. initially landing strikes from full mount before passing to the back of Aponte where he is able to secure a RNC forcing the tap out.
Fight 5 Winner – Alessandro Rodriguez
This 2 round fight ended with Rodriguez swarming in and rains down a barrage of strikes forcing the referee to step in and stop the bout.
Fight 6 Winner – Chris Mangiapili
This fight went the full three rounds. A back and forth battle the whole time with Mangiapili being declared winner by scorecard
Fight 7 Winner – David Bollea
Both fighters come out trading, exchanging jabs, body and leg kicks. Action heads to the ground with Rodriguez initially in control but Bollea is able to take the dominant position securing the back of Rodriguez where he is able to lock in a RNC and force the tap out.
Fight 8 Winner – Cameron Chism
One of the oddest and most tragic ways to see a fight end. Tarazon was able to land a few knees before his knee seems to give out causing an abrupt end to the bout.
Fight 9 Winner – Waldo Cortes-Acosta
The main event was a three round BATTLE. These warriors left nothing in the tank. Both fighters giving each other respect as each fighter patiently waits for opportunities to land instead of recklessly throwing. Big strike by Cortes brings Powell to his knees. Cortes immediately jumps on top successfully landing some big shots from full guard. Powell is able to weather the storm and continues to scramble from the bottom evading more big shots and is able to turn the tide in his favor by securing a single leg takedown right before the horn to end the round.
